Glenmore Plaza Hotel

In 1915, a fire took place here. Guests report smelling smoke and some people across the street see the building as being on fire, but after firefighters arrive, there is no sign of a blaze. During stand-up routines, a figure has been reported on stage and walks through walls much to the confusion of patrons. Room 17 is said to have the most activity, usually dealing with noises coming from it while it is empty.

  1. First time I’d ever been to Avalon, we stayed at the Glenmore for two nights. My girlfriend booked us in the, Clark Gable, room. The bedroom is upstairs underneath the spire. I was lying down looking out at the ocean, lights out, ceiling fan went on by itself, lights on and off on their own. Felt something running down my backside and leg, looked back to the right and something pulled and was pulling the sheet back off of me. I turned Face forward and was staring at someone in a light yellow suit, padded shoulders and wearing a hat, it, he was bent over staring at me, moving slightly side to side, yelled to my girlfriend who was down stairs, she ran up and it was gone. I saw the same apparition the next day, downstairs. I asked the Hotel employees that Morning if they ever noticed anything weird going on, I was asked if we were in the Clark Gable room, they found out we were, told us people had heard knocking and noises in there when they were were in there. I was always kinda skeptical until this happened. It wasn’t scary or anything, more of a playful taunting thing.
I never knew the history of this place, only know what happened to me and what I saw and felt. I highly recommend people to stay there and scope it out. Glen Smithe
