Two spirits are said to reside here: One, a little girl who can be heard crying in the upstairs dining room, and two, a former maitre d’ who creates cold patches in the same dining room.

I worked at The Centerton Inn around 1985 ish. The upstairs dining room at the time was used only for storage. When I would go up there, almost every time, I would have the feeling of someone standing behind me. Almost as if I could feel his or her breath on the back of my neck. The little hairs on my arm would stand up also. Of course when I turned around, no one was there. It became so frequent, that I told them I would not go up there anymore.
My family owned the Inn in the 1960s and I spent many nights on the 3rd floor and you certainly hear some strange sounds. I also worked at the Inn and so I am extremely knowledgeable about Centerton Inn.
Just remember George Washington was once a customer on his trips to Philly by stagecoach and in the 1960s there were a huge amount of antiques and documents dating back to the early 1700s. The Inn certainly needs a coat of exterior paint at this time.
I still live in the area, and do go to dinner there. I will not eat in the upstairs dining room.
We just ate there last week, and as all three of us were leaving, we stopped at the bottom of the steps and looked up… eerie, yet honestly….the nicest, warm, comforting place ever!! Food is amazing!!! Service was excellent!! I highly recommend this lovely restaurant to everyone!! It’s a must go and enjoy!!!
My family owned the inn.back in the ,1960s and I slept on the 2nd floor often and it would get very spookey at times but we.must remember George Washington also slept at the inn so noises canbe heard
