Woman In White Dress

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Woman In White Dress

Seven years ago on my way home driving through Belmont, as I always did, around 2:30 in the morning I saw a woman in a long flowing white dress (looked like she was possibly in her late 30’s/early 40’s but I am bad with age) walking up Royal Road (right around 58 Royal Road) walking right up the street. Although I looked at her as I passed, she did not look at me and instead continued staring straight in front of her.

I thought it was very odd for a woman to be out so late at night, all by herself, and her outfit choice was just bizarre. It wasn’t a normal dress you’d see today. I can’t explain it.

Just one minute later I did a U-turn in a driveway just around the corner by Thomas Street and came back to have a look at her again.

She had just disappeared…….. It was not enough time for her in my turning around for fifteen seconds to have gone into any homes, let alone walked up a driveway she was passing by… She truly just disappeared.

It was at this point I got the chills and realized this woman was not human. I still don’t know what she was, I wouldn’t say anything threatening or evil, but I am no expert. I just know for certain she was not human so I would say it was a ghost for sure.

The reason why I now post this is because I have never forgotten this woman in the white dress walking that windy street in Belmont seven years ago, and want to know more as I am just as intrigued as I was that morning.

I have heard other stories about people seeing this woman as well. I would love to learn more like the history of that road, maybe even the history of 58 Royal Road, etc. Please comment if you saw her also or have any insight as to this experience.

  1. Hello! I host a podcast called ghost hunting in new England and live in Belmont. We would love to feature your story on our show please get back to us!

  2. About 4 years ago, my wife and I were driving home my friend home on the Cambridge/Belmont town line. It was about 1AM and had just stopped raining. Half-jokingly, my wife started saying “ghost bride…ghost bride…GHOST BRIDE!” All three of us saw a woman in a white dress, with no shoes, with her hair matted down in front of her eyes (similar to the look in The Ring) standing in front of a church. Except for this one woman, the whole street was completely deserted. We initially laughed it off, but a minute or two later all three of us got the creeps. I showed my wife and my buddy your story recently and they think it was the same ghost, as do I!
