The ghosts of Henry VIII (seen wandering in the halls), Anne Boleyn (seen in the Dean’s Cloister looking out the window), Queen Elizabeth I (usually wearing all black), King George III (usually seen throughout, looking out of the windows), and Queen Victoria (seen throughout) have all been reported here.

  1. A favorite residence of the royals the park outside the walls is said to be haunted by a huntsman who hanged himself from one of the tree branches. The problem is the huntsman is given the name “Herne” which is also a pagan wood God.

    A more modern story(sort of) was that the officer changing the guard in the early 1800’s passing the main tower saw George III standing in the window. he ordered “Eye’s Left!” to salute the king and went about his duties, only later realizing the king had died the day before.
