The building is haunted by the ghost of a lady named Martha, who hung herself in a guest bedroom in the west wing of the building. She is seen on the staircase and in doorways of the building. Cold spots have been reported, as well as lights going on and off, chandeliers swinging by themselves and items disappearing and reappearing in unusual places.

Martha hung herself in the ballroom. I’ve not only smelled lilacs (most likely her perfume) when I worked here, I have also heard a child laughing and a dog growling along with music coming from the ballroom where Martha allegedly ended her life. When my coworker and I went to investigate the music, there was no one in the building other than us. Also, it is spelled Wausau Club, and is now home to the museum of modern art
