we have had big black shadows come down from the top of the church at us and behind the cemetery in the woods you can comes see 5 or 6 people figures with lanterns walking in the woods and disappear.
My great great grandfather helped to build this church (Zetrour chapel…. he was A.R. Zetrour), and my great grandmalou (Louise Smoak Zetrour) used to teach Sunday school in the school house behind it. It is in MARION county, not Alachua, and the nearest town is actually Micanopy. I always have an eerie feeling when I go in there, but not necessarily a bad one. One thing that I encountered… My uncle recently passed away and was buried there in March. I have been to that church SO many times – hundreds-since I was a baby, and I have seen every single picture that there has ever been of my family in there. The day of my Uncles funeral however, I was upset; way more than I thought I would be (it was an expected death), and ran inside to collect myself. To take my mind off of my uncle, I began looking at the pictures; same ones that have been there for YEARS. I was really glancing just trying to think of anything else at the moment, when I saw a face that I immediately recognized. My happy, smiling and beautiful grandmother who had to be around 26 at the time the picture was taken, was at a relatives 50th wedding anniversary. It was her son that had just passed, and it gave me comfort finding this picture that I had apparently missed, so I brought out my phone and took a snap. A few weeks later, I showed it to my mother, and she had NEVER seen that picture before, let alone in that church. We went to a service next weekend and asked everyone “in charge” about it, and no one knew how it got there…no one. Eerie, but in a warm way.
I have been there and seen a young man dressed in Civil war period clothes and walking around the gate area. My daughter was with me and she seen this apparition as well, she told me she felt that he was looking for someone. We were amazed to see him. He has been there for years, I stop on my way home from Gainesvile just to say hello, and every time he shows to say hello. He has never bothered anyone that I know of. I will find the pictures and get them posted for everyone.
Did you find an images? I’d love to see them!
