Victoria Golf Club has a spooky story. Locals say that in 1936, nurse Doris Gravlin, age 30, was strangled on the fairway. The murderer? Her estranged husband, who left her body on a shore near the seventh green. Doris was found five days later, and her husband’s body was found floating nearby with Doris’ shoes in his coat. After this, Doris’ ghost has been seen on the golf course at night. The ghost, all in white, is either running or standing. Rumor has it that those who go to the golf course during a full moon and ring the bell between the sixth and seventh greens will call up Doris’ ghost.
