The former Topton House Pub, now White Palm Tavern, was built around 1860. It’s haunted, locals say, by many ghosts, perhaps the favorite being Emma. The little girl has been seen playing in the dining room by staff and even by visitors, who have no idea she’s a ghost until they are told there are no children in the building. Emma has been heard laughing and whispering, and has even tripped people, so tread carefully! Another ghost here is a priest who hates Christmas decorations. He takes them down, tears them up and leaves them on the floor. A former gardener’s apparition has been seen as well, and a phantom rose scent may be connected to him.

Back when i was 14 years old my friends and i used to try to sneak in too the palm just for the hell of it, but one day we noticed they weren’t saying anything about the little girl sitting on the stool. i pointed it out, stating how it was unfair and they gave me a strange look and said “what little girl, you guys are the only kids in here.” i looked back at where Emma was sitting and she wasn’t there anymore. of course fear and Adrenalin took over and we hauled ass out of there and refused to even step foot near the cavern ever again.
also when i turned 15 one of my best friends friend died there. i remember we were walking from tonys pizza the one by the tracks, it was late too and this girl came running up crying saying “hes dead!” finally she spit out who and i believe his ghost forever haunts the apartments above the white palm.
My sister told me in the late eighties when she worked there that it was haunted. She never believed in these types of things until she experienced it for herself. She said she was tripped by ‘something’ and heard noises where there weren’t any people. I can’t remember exact details at this time and I was only about 14 when she spoke of this but she became a believer real fast.
My ass. I lived in the building from 1990 to 2000 and never once encountered any sort of paranormal activity.
You will, non believers always sooner or later become believers when the spirits decide to show themselves
What happened? we just went there this week and the dining area was closed for renovations and it is now some sort of _____and barrel. Please say it aint so I loved that place. 🙁
Do you mean Crate and Barrel, they can change the type of business but the spirits that haunted it are still there
