At this late-1800s hotel, apparitions have been seen and unexplained voices heard. Rumor has it that the hauntings may stem from a shipwreck of the Powhattan in 1854, which killed some 300 people. Bodies from the shipwreck were stored in this building for a bit, and it is said that then-owner Edward Jennings robbed their bodies. One of the apparitions seen here is of a mother and child.

I stayed there with my husband and three kids for two nights. My daughter and I picked the place because it was supposed to be haunted. We didn’t tell my husband about it, but the next morning he said he heard a woman talking in German and it sounded like she was right in the room. Freaked him out a little when we told him the history of the hotel -my daughter and I were upset we didn’t hear it.
I’ve been working at the hotel for 15 years if you want any Information feel free to contact me. I was a skeptic until I started working here
