Heffron Hall at St. Mary’s College is known to have a ghost, that of Father Louis Lesches, who murdered Bishop Patrick Heffron in 1915, and who may have been involved in the suspicious burning death of Rev. Edward Lynch in 1931. Witnesses have seen apparitions, experienced cold spots, and had horrifying experiences from blood running from the bathroom taps to being killed and branded across the chest with a cross. The letters A C M are often found scrawled somewhere after an incident; their meaning is unknown.

My gf stayed on the second floor during her first year at St Kates. Since we are shaman, one of our friends have the six sense. He stated after hanging out at my gf apt, that there is a man that haunts this place and walks the halls at night with dark eyes. My friend asked my gf and her roommate if they ever felt scared, they replied of having that errie feeling of someone watching them at night and hearing strange noises. My friend told them not to worry anymore for he cannot enter their room for he put a protective force on their room but he can’t speak for the rest of the building.
Just a correction, he didn’t actually kill the bishop, it was attempted murder, but he did not succeed. The rest of this description sounds like a combination of a bunch of different stories about haunting’s that occurred there, which is fine, but I can certainly go more in-depth if needed. I grew up in Winona and went up to SMU quite often and eventually attended college there as well so I know quite a bit about these stories/my own experiences.
Just a bit of a correction, Bishop Heffron wasn’t actually killed, it was attempted murder only. Also, the information listed here appears to be a combination of multiple different stories/experiences that occurred in Heffron Hall. If you want more detail about them, I can give it, as I grew up in Winona and eventually attended Saint Mary’s myself.
Hefferon Isn’t the only building that’s haunted there. I stayed in Eds freshman and had a ton of activity. Would love to get some equipment to get in there and see whats up.
I lived in Heffron Hall in the early 60’s and absolutely nothing happened.
