Ringwood Manor began in 1740, built by the Ogden family, although it was expanded over the years. Witnesses say it is haunted, and report footsteps, locked doors that open on their own, chills, cold spots, and apparitions of former residents.

  1. As soon as I walked in to the building the right side of my body went numb & cold. When we got upstairs my head began to feel as if i were wearing a heavy metal hat … It felt as if a metal ring had been placed on my head … When our visit was over I had to sign the guest book with my left hand as my right side was still numb. As soon as i left the building feeling started to return; i had pins & needles in my right arm until finally it was normal again.

    • Not abandoned, it’s a museum with nice gardens around it. Has a cemetery not far from the manor. I attended a ghost tour there many years ago, was not a public event. I did not see or feel anything that night but it was interesting.

  2. I’ve been to Ringwood Manor a few times but I never felt anything ghostly on the property. I do highly recommend going because Its absolutely gorgeous.

  3. I’ve been there many times as I live in the area. Was sitting on the back patio overlooking the lake one afternoon and one of the ghosts smacked me on the back of my head. I turned quickly and there was nothing to be seen. I’ve sat in the same spot again to see if she’ll do it again but nothing so far.

  4. I was born and raised in laurel ridge tuxedo ny just mile or two from sterling forest ski center when we moved in I was a baby we had built that house the experiences I had in that house when I was old enough to realize my house was haunted are terrifying nobody should ever have to go through I know that my house had to been built on Indian burial ground I need answers. I think about what happened all the time somebody please tell me if you have answers for me I need to know why I was so terrified in my own home

  5. I am now 70 years old and have been going to Ringwood Manor since 5 with my parents.I go every year if I can and have always found the mansion and the surrounding grounds peacefull and inviting. There is a cemetery down the dirt road over looking the lake with childrens, owners, and servents graves. All very peacefull and with a terrific view of the lake. You used to be able to tour the mansion with just family and friens alone but then some dick heads started stealing from the rooms.I love going to this place whenever I can anw would encourage anyone to do the same.

  6. One of the most spiritual places that there is…I find an inner peace within myself whenever I visit Ringwood Manor … which is pretty much once a week … Definitely there are spirits that walk the grounds and inhabit the house ….
