At this 1920 theater, reportedly once used as a car dealership and a recording studio, a freight elevator is said to run on its own. Also, shadows and disembodied voices have been reported.

I think the person who posted the info on The Rice Theater is mistaken. The building they’re talking about is actually the present day Crowley, LA City Hall about one block north of the Theater. They have the elevator, a recording studio and it used to be a car dealership. There is no elevator in The Rice Theater.
