Here lies an old foundation of a former house, believed to have been haunted. Local tales tell of a housewife who once drowned here while trying to save her child. Her spirit is said to still search for her child, who can be heard crying or pitter-pattering along the ground. Popular ghost legend says that if a visitor resembles the child who died, the mother ghost may try to take them to replace her lost child.

Spent 3 night at my uncles beach house in Punalu’u. One night my wife thought that I was putting the baby to bed, Baby was already in bed. She rolled over calling out my name, and when she cleared her makas she saw a woman standing over her, maybe 5ft. in stature, in a white kitchen robe drinking a cup of tea. My wife politely told her that she was going back to sleep and closed her eyes. She awoke in the morning very sure of what she saw. When confirming the sighting with the neighbor behind, He said without hesitation,” Oh yea, she comes my house all the time” he said with hair standing on his arms. the next couple nights were very interesting for me because I am very spiritual and Born and raised in Kailua. My wife is from Washington.
