This building has stood for 150 years, but in 2001, its foundation was rocked by a shooting spree which killed two. The building itself is full of asbestos, so if you would like to investigate, protect yourself. Those who were brought to the building’s morgue are thought to still be here and might be responsible for the sense of being followed. The atmosphere is said to feel evil and bitter. Bring an EVP recorder; you might get lucky and pick up a voice of someone who died here.
Renwick was used as a location to treat smallpox patients, but 13,000 lost their lives here before being dumped into the bay. The land here was originally that of the Miwoks; however, by 1907, the land belonged to the U.S. military seeing as the grounds were a perfect point to thwart a surprise attack. As he described, he felt incredible chest pain, severe dizziness, weakness, and confusion. Other visitors have described the feeling of not being alone, seeing strange figures, and hearing odd voices.
Once a speakeasy, the Fireside has had a long history of strange activity, leading to a seance. Skidoo is just like Bodie or Calico in terms of its reputation as a classic American ghost town, and just like the others, it too has a reputation for the dead lurking around. A barkeeper named Joe “Hooch” Simpson was responsible for the murder of the town banker. Joe met his fate at the end of a rope from a lynch mob, but his story didn’t end there. A doctor reportedly removed Joe’s head for medical tests; now, Joe is seen throughout the town as a headless figure. The cemetery is also said to be a hot spot for paranormal happenings.
