Lancaster Castle was used as a prison for accused witches and heretics before meeting their fate by execution. On the premise, the ghosts of an elderly lady, a middle-aged woman, a monk, and child running about have all been reported.
Ghosts ranging from stagehands, former managers, and crying children have been reported here all throughout the theatre. Recently, a photograph captured two ghosts sitting in the distance lending to the belief that there’s more ghosts here than previously thought!
Motorists have been forced to slam their brakes when shadowy figures dart across the raod. Shadows have also been seen standing on the side of the road; many accidents have occurred on this stretch so its history has reason for these sighting.
Gwenllian ferch Gruffydd, who was the former wife of Prince Gruffydd ap Rhys, was beheaded and is seen wandering the grounds. Threatening voices are also heard in the prison.
A vacationer filming the valleys caught the image of a woman in a traditional, yet out of date dress. There is no known explanation for she is or why she’s there.
This land was formed as an abbey but was forced to dissolve under Henry VIII. One monk put curse on the property saying that anyone who destroys the remains of the surrounding 20 foot wall would suffer… And so far, no one has been tempted to do so. The remains still stand, but floating monks have been seen and filmed here.
The ghost said to be here isn’t that of famous poet, Dylan Thomas, but rather his mother-in-law, Florence. Florence died here in 1958 and has been reported upstairs. The sounds of chairs being moved around are common, pictures swap around, and lights turn themselves on and off.
The ghost of a guest named Colin may be responsible for manipulating objects. CCTV actually caught a misty figure in one of the waiting rooms. Other than that, the cellar gives off a vicious feeling, and Room 6 has a reputation for giving off the feeling that you aren’t alone or are being chased.
A woman in a white robe is seen; her presence is very unsettling to all alike. She is believed to have been whipped to death. Others who faced being tortured to death may still be here as well.
A chambermaid who hung herself in 1885 is still seen here. In the cellar, staff and visitors believe a wolf can be heard howling. In Room 16, poltergeist activity is common and said to be blamed on a guest who died in the room. A cavalier and Edwardian boy have also been seen despite no explanation.
