O'Kane Building

On the top floor of the O’Kane Building, people have reported seeing weird lights from outside the building, hearing voices and seeing smoke when there is no one around. In the restaurant, the ghost of a waitress can be heard shouting orders, while the apparition of an old man haunts the basement.

Ye Olde Castle Restaurant

The building was originally a house in the early 1800’s, but is now an antique shop and restaurant. The ghost haunts here is believed to be a past resident. She is a lady in a blue dress, who stares at people before vanishing and reappearing somewhere else in the restaurant. She is believed to be the guardian of the restaurant, and looks after the owners and the people who dine there.

Ebenezer Chapel

The original chapel was built in the 1860’s, and was rebuilt in early 1926. Within the chapel there are sightings of spirits that lurk in the nearby cemetery and within chapel. Spotting of mysterious things occurring have been reported, such as strange glowing lights drifting through the forest. Voices and scratching noises are also heard in the chapel.

Herman Helms House

Two ghosts can be seen in this old wooden-framed house, which dates back to 1862. The first is an elderly that walks around the house crying. She is believed to be the late August Helms, who witnessed many murders and suicides in the Helms family before her eventual death in the late 1800’s. The second is that of a little girl, who sits at the bottom of the staircase and weeps. She died of smallpox in 1868 and was buried nearby, but she still refuses to part with the house.

Linkville Playhouse

The Linkville Playhouse is haunted by a kindly, dedicated spirit, who himself was a former actor at the theatre. He has been observed in the audience smoking a pipe, and during dress rehearsal, he appears and disappears suddenly. Strange music is heard, and ghostly lights have been seen in the theatre attic.

This small newspaper is housed in an extremely haunted location. Over the years, employees have experienced strange time lapses and sightings of many apparitions.

Argyle Winery

The Argyle Winery is haunted by a female ghost, whose apparition is seen often. Employees report smelling flowery perfume in the house, laughter comes from empty rooms, lights turn on and off, footsteps can be heard upstairs when no one is there, and gusts of air blow through the house when it is still outside. Staff also reports that glasses have been heard breaking and shattering in other rooms, but when investigated no glass can be found. This apparition is believed to be that of a young woman, who committed suicide by drinking carbolic acids over a century ago.

Pendleton Arts Center

The ghost of a librarian who died in the basement haunts the building. The ghost moves objects around the building, and she can be seen glaring down at people from the building’s windows at night.

Benson Hotel

The twelve story hotel was built in 1913, and has experienced haunting ever since then. The original owner of the hotel, Simon Benson, is often seen on the staircase, in the common room area and in the business offices on the lower levels of the hotel. The kindly ghost of a night porter assists those in need, then vanishes when done. The ghost of a lady in a white dress and a young boy roam the hallways and rooms of the hotel.

The Crystal Ballroom

When the building is closed for the night, large groups of people can be heard talking, but when investigated, there is no one around. Footsteps that follow people around the building are heard, as well as elevator’s going up and down by themselves. Apparition’s walk in and out of the rooms of the building before vanishing.
