Two ghosts have been reported in the historic Glebe House. The first is that of an aggressive spirit that haunts the attic, and may be one of the conspirators who attacked Reverend Marshall (a previous owner of the house) for his beliefs and sermons. The second ghost is that of a African American woman, possibly a maid who previously worked in the house. She often appears exasperated or upset, but is generally regarded as a friendly presence.
A male entity dressed in 17th-18th century attire has been in many rooms of the 1734 inn, along with the ghost of a confederate gentleman in the liquor room, a female entity that disturbs guests, the apparition of former owner Lucius Foot in Room 1 and the ghost of former worker Joseph Hardesty. Disembodied footsteps, ghostly voices and strange music, as well as unset presences, have also been reported in the old inn.
The building was built around the turn of the century, and was previously frequented by gangsters and other lawless folk. Rumours has it that a gangster was shot out the front of the building and still haunts the saloon to this day. The ghost of a woman in white has been seen on the staircase, and an aggressive male entity has also been reported in the building.
The 1907 twin storey home is still believed to be haunted by the ghost of Louise Cromartie and her children. Her translucent apparition has been seen, looking out her second floor bedroom window. Some people are treated to the full paranormal package. She is described as wearing her blonde hair in a bun with ringlets on the side of her face, wearing a pink dress. The sounds of children running, playing, laughing and singing around and in back of the house are heard by the living.
The New River Inn (built in 1905) now houses the Old Fort Lauderdale History Museum, but visitors still report seeing apparitions in the historic building. The first is that of a man in an old-fashioned rancher’s outfit, who paces the first floor and the front porch but vanishes when approached. The second spirit is that of former owner P.N Bryan, who still guard the museum at night. He can be seen glaring down at people from the second floor of the building. The other spirit reported here is that of a young girl in turn-of-the-century attire. She often plays in the building or talks to people before disappearing, and is regarded as one of the friendlier entities of the building.
The building closed down many years ago, but there are still reports of weird phenomena here. People driving past the building at night claim to see an old woman staring down at them from inside the retirement home, and see strange flashing lights that move around the building of their own accord.
This restaurant recently closed down, but there were many strange reports of paranormal activity when the place was still in business. Strange music, screams and moans were heard in the building, while objects moved around of their own accord. The ghost of a former worker haunted the basement area.
The building is haunted by a single ghost, who plays the organ on the upper floor of the building when no one is around. The apparition of the old woman has also been seen.
The main building of the resort is believed to be haunted. Footsteps and strange noises are heard when no one is around. Apparitions are seen from outside the building, and an evil shadow accompanied by an eerie presence has been seen on the upper levels of the building.
The building was bought by the company several years ago, and former employees reported seeing apparitions, hearing strange laughter and being touched when no one was around.
