Two suites available at the motel include two 1929 Santa Fe Railroad Cabooses. The second caboose is believed to be haunted by the ghost of a conductor, who has been seen walking through the caboose suite swinging a lantern. Whispering, voices and lights go on and off by themselves are part of the phenomena experienced here.

Although staff firmly believe and tell guests that there are no ghosts in the building, bottles of wine jump off the shelves without being touched. There have been reports of apparitions in old-fashioned clothes wandering the hallways and the lobby before simply vanishing. The ghost of a young girl in a pink dress has been seen in the lobby. The ghost of a woman in a wedding gown has been seen staring down into the street late at night. The ghost of a bellman has been seen wandering the fourth level, who walks through closed doors before disappearing. The ghost of a man in a black suit has been seen in the hotel laundry, and often waves to workers. Taps turn on and off by themselves, lights go on and off when no one is around, people are brushed against by people who aren’t there and ghostly laughter has been heard. An evil presence has been felt in Room #824 of the hotel.

The ghost of a well-dressed man with a homburg hat has been seen on the stairs and in other rooms of the historic home. The ghost of a large woman, dressed in pink, who stands outside guests rooms. The apparition of an old sea captain has been seen in other guest’s rooms, and an African American maid haunts the maid’s closet. Phantom footsteps have been heard and doors open and close by themselves.

The ghost of a labourer may haunt the building, as well as the apparition of a young woman who fell to her death. She often appears in guests rooms, or moves around luggage. Wails and screaming have also been reported in various parts of the building.

Many people, for many years, have reported seeing an older man in the building, wearing denim coveralls and a long sleeve, cotton, plaid shirt. He appears in the room or walks around, never setting off the motion detectors, yet clearly visible. Clearly this is Mr. Vic, the builder and previous owner.
One popular night, 15 years ago, a 17 year old died of undiagnosed childhood diabetes, and has been seen hanging around by children and adults who never knew of his demise.
Many have seen a young girl in a flowing dress around, but her origin is undetermined.
Upstairs is storage, yet, on numerous occasions, many people together have heard a music box mysteriously turn on and off over the years.

Margie Kay, author of “Haunted Independence,” believes Rotary Park to be haunted. She claims to have seen and/or felt numerous ghostly presences on the grounds – one of which is named “Old George.” The western side of the park is said to harbor some particularly dark entities.
On stormy nights near the old cemetery just west of Sherack, MN drivers have reported picking up a hitchhiker, only to have him disappear from their car a few minutes later.

This 1814 house was built by John Wesley Hunt, who can still be seen walking the hallways of this old property. The apparition of Mammy Bouviette James, a former nurse of the Hunt children, can still be seen in the third floor nursery and hallways, and often appears to those who are ill.

This bar and lounge is believed to be haunted by a number of spirits. Screams and footsteps are heard in the building when there’s no one around. Objects move around by themselves, and at least five people have seen a shadowy apparition moving around the building.
