The University of Minnesota’s McCall Hall, built in 1946, is alleged to be home to spirits who have been heard laughing and stomping their feet in the halls. Doors open or close on their own, often followed by an apparition of an unknown girl. Strange sounds have been reported here as well.

St. Mary's College - Heffron Hall
Heffron Hall at St. Mary’s College is known to have a ghost, that of Father Louis Lesches, who murdered Bishop Patrick Heffron in 1915, and who may have been involved in the suspicious burning death of Rev. Edward Lynch in 1931. Witnesses have seen apparitions, experienced cold spots, and had horrifying experiences from blood running from the bathroom taps to being killed and branded across the chest with a cross. The letters A C M are often found scrawled somewhere after an incident; their meaning is unknown.
40 Club Restaurant and Bar
An upstairs apartment was the unfortunate setting for a 40 Club employee’s suicide in 1999, and since then, folks say, strange things have happened at the restaurant. Tom’s body was found after he failed to show up for work one day. Now, the jukebox plays songs buy itself(including one that wasn’t stocked in the jukebox but was played at Tom’s funeral), cold spots and flickering lights are known to happen, and TVs and radios act strangely as well.
St. Joseph of the Lakes Catholic Church
St. Joesph’s Catholic Church, formerly a Catholic school, is home to a ghost nun. Her apparition has been seen around the church and has been blamed for slamming doors, playing the piano, knocking a Bible off a shelf, and footsteps.
Minnesota Institute of the Arts
Some say the spirit of a student who was raped and murdered haunts the Minnesota Institute of the Arts. The Connecticut Room is reported to have unexplained cold spots, and some students say they have awoken in the night freezing cold to the sound of screaming.
Duluth International Airport
Duluth International Airport is haunted by a woman who was killed on a road nearby. She has been spotted by security and has set off alarms and made doors open and close on their own. She is thought to haunt the airport because this is where her murderer went directly after stabbing her.
Washington Avenue Bridge
Washington Avenue Bridge at the University of Minnesota is the stuff of local haunted legend, especially among students. Witnesses have heard footsteps along the bridge that seem to follow them, stopping when they stop and resuming when they do. The haunting is said to be a result of the many folks who have committed suicide by throwing themselves off the bridge, one of whom was poet and university professor John Berryman in 1972.
Lake Rebecca Park Reserve
Lake Rebecca Park Reserve is full of maple and basswood forests and hiking, biking and nature trails. A bench along one of the trails is alleged to be haunted by the ghost of a man who committed suicide there.
Fountain Lake
At Fountain Lake, witnesses say, the ghost of a Native American woman who drowned here can be heard screaming late at night.
Treasure Island Resort and Casino
One night after leaving the Treasure Island Resort and Casino, a man pulled over to take a nap. A few moments later, he heard footsteps coming toward his car, sounding like the walker was dragging one leg. The man looked out his car window and saw a bony old ghost with tattered clothing leaning on his car window. Needless to say, the man started up his car and took off.
