Axe Murder Hollow

On the dirt roads and wooded area behind Thomas Rd is where an axe murderer supposedly went on a rampage. One of the victims, a young woman, has been reported running and screaming as if she is being chased.

Gudgeonville Covered Bridge

Even though the bridge was destroyed by an arsonist in 2008, activity has not stopped. EVP’s are picked up; a little girl (believed to be a girl who fell from nearby cliffs) is thought to be one of the voices that is picked up as well other unrecognizable voices. Light anomolies, apparitions, and other strange phenomena come up on camera.

Cathedral of St Paul

Members of the congregation believe a little girl named Katie still remains here. After her death in a car accident, members would report hearing a jovial laugh similar to Katie’s, but also the sound of heavy objects moving around in empty rooms. The church organ has played by itself before while investigators were present.

The Brewerie at Union Station

A girl named Clara fell down the staircase here; staff, visitors, and investigators believe that she is still here, even creating a beer dedicated to the beloved ghost!

Slocum House

Dating back to 1867, the historic mansion is haunted by the wife of the original owner. Known as ‘Laura’, the spirit often appears to children, and is regarded as a motherly presence.

Clark County Historical Museum

The historical museum is haunted by the apparition of a young boy in old-fashioned clothing, who has been known to materialise in the basement. Voices are also heard when there is no one around.

Historic Panama Hotel Bed and Breakfast

The 1910 hotel is rumoured to be haunted. Reports of paranormal activity include doors slamming, windows being rattled by unseen hands and a ghostly couple clad in 1920’s attire who have been seen having a conversation on the upper floor.

Greater Kent Historical Society - Bereiter House

The historic house museum was built in 1907 for the town mayor and his wife, and was leased to the local historical society in 1996. Ever since, visitors and staff have reported various strange occurrences, including objects being moved around by unseen hands, cold spots, ghostly voices and the unexplained sound of bells.

Alleghany County Courthouse

Built in 1933, the historic courthouse was constructed to replace the original edifice which was destroyed by the ‘Big Fire of 1932’. Visitors to the building nowadays have reported hearing disembodied footsteps on the staircase and the unexplained sound of whistling near the decommissioned prison cells.

Lois Jane's Riverview Inn

The 1892 bed and breakfast inn is haunted by the daughter of a sea captain who once owned the place during the twentieth-century. Known as ‘Lois Jane’, the spirit has been heard laughing and singing on the upper floor of the mansion, and on one occasion shook the bed of a male guest and his wife until they awoke in fright.
