Saint Mary's College - Le Mans Hall
A scary apparition of a girl hanging from a noose has been witnessed at the Le Mans Hall bell tower. Legend has it that she committed suicide in that very spot years ago. Also, the infirmary on the fourth floor is said to sport blood stains resulting from a girls’ death.
Potato Creek State Park
Potato Creek State Park has 327 acres of fields, woodlands, prairies and wetlands. It is said to be haunted by ghostly children who have drowned here while swimming or fishing over the years. The plaintive sound of a child crying or calling for its mother has been rumored to come from the beach area.
Papa John's Pizza
At this Papa John’s Pizza location, several witnesses have reported an apparition in a blue uniform and knocking sounds coming from the walls. The knocks seemed to come from the empty store adjacent to Papa John’s.
Scott County Heritage Center
The Scott County Heritage Center and Museum is housed in a building that was once the county poor farm. It is said to be haunted by former residents. Witnesses have described footsteps on the second floor when no one is up there, unexplained smells, a baby crying, and lights coming on by themselves.
Bridgewater Cemetery
The isolated hilltop Bridgewater Cemetery is known to have a glowing tombstone. The grave is that of a man who appears in ghostly form at night to guard the cemetery’s gate.
Earlham College
Earlham College is a liberal arts college founded by Quakers in 1847. The college has a resident ghost in the Athletic and Wellness Center who is known to play basketball at night.
Memory Gardens
Memory Gardens is a cemetery with a haunted statue, locals claim. The saint statue at the back of the graveyard is rumored to move at night, keeping watch on visitors. Some say its head and arms will change position. However, the cemetery is closed after dark and trespassers will be prosecuted.
Old Porter Road
The shadowy figures that have been seen along the train tracks by Old Porter Road are a mystery. Some say they are almost doglike, with a tail and glowing yellow eyes. They have been known to run alongside trains and bay into the night.
