The Manor Castle

A white figure has been seen here since the 1980’s. He is described as wearing “wearing gaiters and a plumed hat” by the owner’s daughter.

Marsden Grotto

A former gang member and smuggler named John the Jibber was actually an informer. His gang locked John in a barrel and hoisted him up, waiting for him to die slowly. John is still heard groaning throughout, and poltergeist activity is also reported.

Lady Le Gros

A Victorian gentleman, said to be the former landlord, was playful and had a habit of appearing and disappearing. Since a new landlady took over the pub, it is said that a psychic was brought here and laid his spirit (as well as others) to rest.

Sadly, it was bulldozed in 2016 and no longer stands.

Old Silent Inn

A former landlady’s presence is reported here. She is said to have been an avid lover of the wild cats, ringing a bell to let them know that food was ready. The ringing of the bell is still heard to some.

The Green Dragon

Activity is common in the cellar; staff feels as if they are not alone and sometimes report being touched.

The Pot and Glass

Staff and visitors say that a friendly ghost is here, but not much is known about it.

St. Botolph Without Aldgate

In 1982, a photographer managed to capture a photograph of a figure dressed out-of-date in the upper sections on this church. It is considered to be one of the most famous ghost photos ever taken lending to the idea that St. Botolph’s is haunted.

St Nicholas Chiswick

Mary Fauconburg and Frances Rich, the daughter of Oliver Cromwell, are said to haunt this location. After Cromwell’s death, his body was disinterred and beheaded publicly. The daughters are said to have bribed a guard to have his remains placed here, but his body is currently in an unmarked grave. His daughters are said to be seen here at dawn.

St James's Church

A mummified teenaged boy was discovered here in 1839. He is nicknamed ‘Jimmy Garlick’ and may be responsible for the objects that move themselves and the strange noises.
