Many reports of historical figure Maud Baldwin and various other tenants have been reported seen at or near the hotel. Strange sounds, lights, and noises also reported. Figures and shadows seen from windows also noted (during the museums closed hours).

Myers House was built by Hyman Myers,and it has 19 rooms. It is now abandoned in the middle of Governor’s Park.
This mansion is quite beautiful and people are seen having picnics and enjoying the view of this magnificent house. Though you can’t go inside because it is all boarded up quite tightly. So we decided to go me and my fiance’ stayed looking at this house for about an hour. As we approached the front door I saw the door bell and of course I wanted to push it. So I asked my fiance’ to push it well he pushed it four times. Soon after there were 2 sets of 2 knocks that were loud and actually scared both of us. That was our bizarre experience there.

Forrest Hills has quite the active property for ghosts. The property itself is rich in history with the Trail of Tears having gone through it along with a rich past of moonshiners and even a suicide by hanging. The majority of the ghosts here are quite friendly and even playful though. At the well, you will often hear the dropping and raising of the bucket, in the Goldfinch and Sparrow cabins resident ghosts will move your items around. In Treetopper Lodge, you will be flipping light switches off all day. The Conference center and the Rose Garden Dining hall are even visited with spirits.

This church is the oldest standing building in Powell. In 1948 the building was moved from the corner of 3rd and Bent Streets to the corner of Park and Douglas street. Nothing specific is really known about the history of the building (besides the fact that it used to the Presbyterian Church- which is located at the original site in a new building). I grew up in this church, and so sometimes people ask me odd questions that are obviously trying to get information regarding any paranormal experiences that may have occurred in the building. I have also spoken to several people who I know well enough to be open about discussing the experiences. Most people report that they find the building peaceful unless they are there alone. Even with doors locked the doors can be heard opening and closing, but when a person goes to see who came in the door is still locked and the person is alone (this is a small church- you wouldn’t miss someone). Footsteps and voices can be heard on
the opposite level of where you are in the building, but when you go to the level where the noise is occurring, the noise seems to migrate to the level you were just on. The most common complaint is a horrifying sensation of “someone standing behind you.” This sensation becomes overwhelming to the point that people have been to known to leave the building in haste. For example it is not uncommon to enter the building to find the vacuum plugged in in the middle of a row of pews and no sign of the cleaner. The common visual disturbance is an catching a glimpse of something (the shape is difficult to make out) that is about the size of a cat, but it is just a shadow-type figure. It is either seen running past a doorway or caught “out of the corner of the eye.” Today the church has erected a parsonage for the pastor to live in, but in the past the basement of the church was an apartment for the pastor. On at least two occasions, Pastors living in the church itself fled i
n the middle of the night, and gave no notice, but left resignation letters. The person I spoke to stated that there were no known problems with the pastors in terms of mental/emotional concerns or conflicts with the congregation- they just left for no known reason. When one walks by the church today, nothing is visible, but many report sensing a presence “watching them” from one of the windows- although the window is not always the same (the upper level is really one giant room)- most can identify the exact window that the presence is “watching” from.

There are reportedly a little ghost girl who haunts the kids clothes aisles and the kids toy section located in the back corner of the store. One night, around 11:30 pm, we were cleaning up and restacking shelves when all of a sudden-Working alone in my department which was in the baby department, I got midway down one particular aisle to put something away, out the corner of my eye, I saw something walking about four feet away from me. As I turned to look in the direction of the movement, I saw a transparent adult figure. As soon as I layed eyes on it walking, it disappeared. I had hairs standing up on my neck. When we all got to the break room for release, another employee said about the same time I saw the apparition, he saw a teenage girl squatting down hiding from someone so he thought it was another employee but when he saw her, he turned around and she had vanished. So, what Im guessing is that there are more than one ghosts haunting this store.

A man was attacked on the bridge,tortured murdered and his body was left hanging from a tree. He was an angry man in life and his vengeful spirit haunts the bridge and trees. The spirit has been known to push people and scratch them. Dogs whimper and try to get away from that area. You will also smell rotting flesh.

This was the site of a old house built in the mid to early 19th century. The house has been gone and the site of the house is now home to a United States post office. However, the house back in the mid 1800s owned 125 acres that today is home to a shopping center, apartments the post office and new town homes (currently under construction). The location of paranormal activity seems to focus in the field behind the post office which would have been the rear yard when the house stood. A black apparition that has a masculine physique that when seen seems to look at you and then turns into an orb of greenish brownish light that glides off into the woods that are at the back of the field. The property is zoned commercial and is private property so please get permission if one wants to investigate. The location is right off of Hanover Crossing Dr literally behind the post office on route 301. Not much history can be found on the internet to know just who lived on the property or if there is by chance a unmarked cemetery.

The whole town of Samoa is haunted,but Cadmen Court Street aka the street of abandoned houses is the worst. House number 18 has a haunted mirror in the upstairs bedroom closet. The bedroom upstairs on the right has the spirit of a little girl. The girl will actually talk to you. House 18 also has the ghost of an angry man that physically hurts people. Beware Samoa has no police and the abandoned houses are often visited by local witches,homeless people and tweakers.

The story was told to me from my mother …. When she was a child a little girl had passed away around 10 or 11 years old. After her grave was prepared (dug) ground water had seeped into the grave. That night she came to the grave diggers and warned them not to bury her in that grave.
They did place her in that grave and an image of her appeared on the tree at the head of the grave. The men who dug the grave and those who laid her to rest in the grave all died within a month after they laid their hands on the image of the girl on the tree.
It spooked the community so bad they burnt and cut the tree down. You can see the burnt tree stump at the head of her grave still.

The Pines is the old cemetery from Tewksbury State Hospital. There are numbered markers here for over 10,000 individuals who died at the hospital. It is rumored that many bodies were exhumed and taken to Boston for medical students to train on.
The cemetery is located in the woods and is fairly accessible. Screams can be heard in the woods surrounding the graves, apparitions of people seen between the trees. A very good place to go hunting for EVP.
