Academy of the Holy Names

Academy of the Holy Names was established in 1881 and the current building opened in 1926. The school is run by the sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Ghosts of nuns have been seen walking around on the 4th floor, where the sisters used to live. There is also a little girl ghost that has been seen multiple times in the library. Other paranormal incidents have also taken place, such as bookshelves being fixed one night and then being in disarray the next morning.

Prospect Park

Prospect Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Redlands CA. The land was given to the city as an 80th birthday present. It was originally owned by 2 of Redlands co-founders in the 1800’s. The park owes its name to a small hotel that was built on the property that no longer exists.

Many rumors exist claiming the park is haunted. Its been said that the park was a popular dumping ground for dead bodies due to its dense foliage. Homeless people often take refuge in the bamboo patches in the park and it has been said that some of them have even died there. The park is a very popular place for Satan worshipers to gather. At night they can be seen in the park sitting in circles, chanting and lighting fires. In the theater area, footsteps are often heard running across the stage. Sounds of the seats in the theater folding up are also heard. Many visitors have claimed to see shadow people throughout the park.

An unsupported rumor has circulated claiming that a teenage girl was killed behind the theater stage. This supposedly being the reason there is so much activity in the theater.

Barton Mansion

The Barton Mansion, built by Dr. Ben Barton in the 1860s, is a location made infamous in a video shot by a group of paranormal investigators in the early 2000s. The video depicted a demon or ghost emerging from a room in the then abandoned building. Whether or not the video is real has been up for debate since it surfaced.

Though the video made it famous around the internet, the mansion has had a local reputation for many years. For decades the mansion was rumored to be a hot spot for Satan worshipers. There are also claims that it was built over an ancient Native American burial ground. Before its recent renovation, the mansion was a popular spot for paranormal investigators and teens looking for a good scare.

The is a wide range of different types of paranormal activity reported at the Barton mansion. The sound of disembodied footsteps are most common. Others have reported an intense feeling of being watched by a very unwelcoming source. There are even reports of people who have seen a demonic face watching them as they ascend the stair case. Disembodied voices have been heard and shadowy figures have been seen darting up and down the staircase. There appears to be no shortage of paranormal activity at the Barton Mansion.

Moravian Book Shop

Moravian Book Shop is the oldest continuously operating book shop in the United States. We opened in 1745 and over the years have expanded to occupy 5 different buildings in the Historic District of Downtown Bethlehem. Over the years it seems we’ve attracted quite a few ghosts throughout the buildings as well.

One part of the shop seems to be haunted by a mischievous woman in white. When first spotted, the manager thought she was dealing with a shop-lifter as a shady woman ran from one part of the shop into another room. But when the manager asked other staff members where she went, they said they had not seen her at all. Others have, however, when one morning she floated out of the locked door to the basement and disappeared across the room.

Many of the basements give the staff bad vibes, or the feeling of being watched.
The most common haunt is the one we call our Kitchen Ghost, because he haunts the area around our eatery, the Colony Meadery. Some see shadowing figures, or swear there was a guest waiting in the dining area, only to find they vanish inexplicably. Other times it is the supplies that vanish, but if you ask nicely, the ghost will return them. One night he even helped us out at closing. The staff in the kitchen had shut down hours prior to the manager’s final check, who never looked into the kitchen. She then saw a dark figure in a long black coat run into the kitchen’s back entrance. Thinking she was dealing with an intruder, she got the only other remaining staff member to help her corner the man. But when they got into the kitchen, no one was there. However, a burner on the stove had been left on. We think the Ghost was luring her back to show her the danger and make her turn off the stove!

We could go on and on with stories, but we’ll let you visit to find out more!

Red Coach Inn

The Red Coach Inn is known for it’s two ghosts: A Bride, bludgeoned to death in the Victoria Suite in 1925, often seen in the restaurant, early mornings, as well as visiting other Suites. And a 4 year old girl who passed in a barn fire far earlier in the history of the location as an Inn and waystation here in The Falls.

The Buckingham

I don’t go around seeing ghosts everywhere. The last ghost I saw was in 1983 when I lived in an apartment building called The Buckingham. I was in my bedroom when I saw a shadowy silhouette of a man enter, stand and stare at me, and proceed to get in bed with me. In bed, he leaned over and studied my face carefully. I didn’t get any sort of sense that he was threatening; rather, he seemed confused by my presence. I got scared and spent the rest of the evening in the living room. The next night he came in again, looked at me and sighed as if he was not pleased to see me there. He proceeded to get in bed with me again. I made my way out and spent the remainder of my lease sleeping in the living room where I experienced no paranormal activity.

Frost Cemetery

If you drive by there is also a head stone that glows green. You can hear giggling from insides the cemetery late at night. And you will sometimes see figures hiding among the stone.

O'Donaghue's Irish Pub

O’Donaghue’s Irish Pub is situated in a 200 year old sandstone building built by John T. Williston in 1824.

The John T. Williston House is an 1824 2-story stone residential structure located on Water Street in the City of Miramichi.

Sightings of shadows in the basement where the washrooms are have been reported. The second level has the most activity with lights turning themselves on and off, articles moving, loud noises, foot steps and an eerie apparition in the upstairs window after closing time.

Dresden Cemetery

Rumors have it that this cemetery was built on an old Native American burial ground and that behind the back chain link fence you can see the sunken in graves of slaves. I don’t know if any of this is true but the paranormal activity that occurs here cannot be denied. Faint music/chanting can be heard, things move around in the trees, dogs wail from nearby, and darting between tombstones are shadows.

The cemetery is fairly large. The oldest graves can be found to the left side and newer ones to the right.

The most interesting grave to me, is the tombstone of Carle Waits which claims he was murdered in 1917.
