This building once housed the Oriental Manor catering hall, a place for weddings and events. It was widely known by staff and locals that the hall was haunted by at least three spirits. People were constantly hearing disembodied footsteps, and doors would open and close on their own.
The building is now home to “American Place”, a discount department store. No word on whether or not the haunts persist to this day.

If this catering hall was haunted then it was a romantic couple who just wanted to go back to the past. ❤️
My husband and I were married at the Oriental Manor on July 1, 1972 and still together today ( Aug. 25, 2020) after all these years. If I could, I would love to go back to visit and reminisce our day. Thank you Oriental Manor ❤️
Well Lorraine, I just missed serving at your wedding. In 1969-70 I was a waiter there. What a place it was. Ornate, gaudy, and romantic. Congrats on the longevity of your marriage. I was married earlier that year (Feb 20, 1972) at the Carlysle (I think), but thankfully that didn’t last. What a nightmare! On the good side, it led me to my current wife of almost 41 years, one brilliant kid, a brilliant daughter-in-law, and a budding genius grandson of almost 5 years old. Things work out.
My wedding reception occurred on July 29, 1967 in the corrillion room. 200 guest attended the reception and it was a fantastic day for all especially Karen and myself, Jerry.
