Having grown up in Lexington, I have toured the Anderson House many, many times. I have never seen an apparition, but I have always felt the presences that are in the house. They are not threatening, or malevolent, but you can feel the sadness and listlessness of the spirits in the house. Many of them were cut down in the prime of their lives, leaving mothers, fathers, wives, children too soon and violently. At night, you can see orbs around the house, and battlefield that is right behind the house. The fighting literally took place in the backyard of the house. And the war wasn’t the first time the house was used as a hospital. Many of the injured of the Steamship Saluda was brought to the Anderson House so they could be treated, and reunited with any family members they may have been separated from. Whether you believe in spirits or not, the Anderson House is a place of beauty and wonder, and I am very grateful that I had the privilege to have grown up in a town that is so full of history.

  4. From the time that I’ve been there I have been touched on my neck and shoulder, when I pasted the stairs where there a man was to believed to jumped of to get away and he broke his ankle my ankle began to hurt, I had extreme dizziness, and finally I heard voices saying help and screaming and crying my head was spinning with all voices of the dead soldiers

  5. Who ever bought the house on 112 N.Main good luck to you I was the owner of the house and my mother who is decist was raised in this house I’ve had a coupleof family members pass in this as well shodows and etc

I was there some years ago. 2003 maybe. The house was closed. As I wandered the grounds I felt as if I was being watched from the upstairs window. The whole area has a feeling of sadness and a heaviness. I took several photos, all were normal. Great place to walk, learn and feel history.

  7. I have toured the home multiple times and walked the battlefield. My son at the time was 2years old and in 2005 the basement was still able to be toured. I was with my parents and my son and he said “mommy, that man is sawing in there” and he pointed into an empty room. The guide had not told us what that room was used for, but when she did explain what the room was for made sense why that man my son seen was sawing.
years later I went back again and was taking photos and it was in 2009 at this time and with the digital camera once we got home and put on the computer, in one photo where the garden used to be on the side of the museum, was a man with just a torso walking away from garden and had a uniform on and hat and turned to look into the camera with rifle on his shoulder and very see through like a faded photo. ( sadly ex stole the laptop so the pic is lost) but that same day when we toured inside, we were in the front of the house to the room on the right where the piano is and while the woman was talking the whole floor and house moved… it was as if something exploded beside the house it was that big of a rumble and sound….. we all jumped and felt it…. she said well it must be the furnace. I said immediately, this house is not heated with a furnace…. she looked at me realizing she was wrong.
other times i have gone back have heard drums on the battle field and my friend and I were the only ones there. Multiple photos taken of windows and one was from this fall that was beyond explanation. This was not from the tree and is a zoomed in cropped photo. I do have original

  8. My family and I just finished a tour of the Oliver Anderson house. It is such a majestic home but such a sad history. I don’t believe that I have ever had a paranormal experience but today I feel that I did. While climbing the stairs from the first to second floor where 3 men of the county militia were shot I experienced a strong heaviness in my chest that was somewhat painful. Never have I felt that kind of pain before nor have I experienced any problems climbing stairs. As soon as I left area at the top of the stairs the sensation and pain disappeared as quickly as it had come.
