Several years ago, a paranormal group I was involved with did an investigation at Jemison Mansion. We split up into small groups and would be in different areas of the house so we wouldn’t be hearing each other. One group would be in the basement and one on the ground floor and one up in the cupola on top. While in the basement, my legs suddenly felt very cold as I was standing there doing evp sessions. I was the only one experiencing that even though there were others next to me. If it was a cold draft, others would have felt it. We went to the “suicide room” on the ground floor and did an evp session there. At one point, my sister could see through the door into the next room and through that door into the central hall and she saw someone wearing red walk through. We did NOT hear them open the back door to come in nor did we hear their footsteps but she saw the person. One of our group immediately ran out to tell them to come join us because we assumed it was one of our group who had just arrived late. But NOBODY was there! They’d simply vanished. I think my sister saw a full bodied apparition. Interestingly, there is a portrait of some brothers who played football for the UA in the 1920’s maybe? But they wore red jerseys! And there is also a large portrait of a woman wearing a red gown hanging in the next room. Maybe my sister saw the ghost of one of them? Our little group was all girls and yet as we ended the evp session I heard a deep man’s voice on my recorder say “Howard”. There was NO explanation for that. Maybe Howard is one of the ghosts there? The last odd thing that happened to our group was when it was our turn to go up in the cupola. The trap door was shut AND it refused to open even though the other groups had gone up there to investigate! It wasn’t locked but it just wouldn’t open! And yet after we finished, one of the people who worked there went up & opened the door right up with no problem! I have no doubt Jemison is haunted.
