The Nebraska State Capitol was built over 10 years (1922-1932), and is still the home of Nebraska’s government. It is said to be haunted by an apparition of someone falling, along with screaming and crying. It is thought to be either a man who had a heart attack and fell while stringing Christmas lights, a workman who fell and died while changing a light bulb, or a visitor who died after falling over the railing of the spiral staircase to the dome. A female worker did the same thing later. The safety rails being too short were blamed for the accidents.
