Stories about the Mount Vernon Country Club say a ghost has been heard walking across the lobby floor when no one is walking in the building. When the employee who heard the ghost asked “Who’s there?” he was surprised to see a straw fly from a glass on a shelf behind him to land on the paperwork on which he was working. The next day a receptionist had several phone calls suspected to be from the ghost. The phone rang despite being forwarded to the answering machine, and a scruffy, whispering voice said “Tell me what you’re wearing.”
