The tavern is housed in a 1740 former private residence. It is said to be haunted by a ghost nicknamed Roland who has been seen in the first-floor dining rooms. He wears Revolutionary War-era clothing and looks out the window toward the water. He brings with him the smell of cigar smoke and has been known to knock plates and glasses, one at a time, off shelves. He has also knocked over tables of dirty plates. Witnesses here also report seeing shadowy figures in the dining rooms, furniture that moves on its own, and the wall lanterns being turned upside down.

The waitress told me about the ghost Roland during our dining experience. I said maybe he will take a picture with us. Notice the light?
