A seance was held in an effort to communicate with a dead civil war soldier. There was a lot of weird stuff happening at the seance, including flickering lights, shaking plates, sulfur smells, demons and things like that. A few days later, demons appeared in the shape of glowing gargoyles on the top floors. 5 or so participants in the seance died the following year.

Also, there’s a really creepy statue of a huge cherubic face on the front lawn. It has a hole in the forehead with a warped mirror inside. Spooky.

  1. My buddy brought me and a couple of guys to visit this place, ten years ago. As we walked around it, there was a certain area that stunk very badly (like rotten eggs). I nearly threw up and had to walk away. I never did find the source, but it seemed like it was coming from underneath the building. My buddy became very nauseous and threw up. We had a feeling that something was watching us as we walked. It was so very strong that the hairs on my arm were standing up. There was a large black bird that landed on the tree on the south side of the building. This bird began to make a lot of noise (very loud) as if it was talking to us or something. It finally flew away after about ten minutes. We then left the premises as it started to get dark. I recommend you come and check this out.

  2. I’ve only ever been to the ground floor (the guest reception area), and never felt anything, per se. Walking past there at night, though, it definitely has a much creepier vibe than anywhere else in the park.
