La Concha Hotel

This hotel is hopping with haunts. Rumor has it that one New Year’s Eve in the early 1980s a young man fell to his death down the elevator shaft, and his spirit is active in the elevator and on the 5th floor. It is also known in local lore that 13 people have committed suicide by jumping off the rooftop bar. Patrons here have experienced their glass of Chardonnay being jerked out of their grasp by unseen hands. The reason? One of the suicide jumpers drank a Chardonnay before he leapt, and it is believed that he has come back for another sip.

  1. I stayed here years ago not knowing it was haunted. I tossed and turned all night and felt like someone was watching me. Two things happened – I had turned off and unplugged the iron before going to bed – I am OCD about doing this and making sure the stove is always off etc. When I woke up in the morning it was plugged in and on the highest setting. The next night the room was cold so I turned off the air conditioner – woke up in the middle of the night freezing- walked over and the AC was on full bore. I checked out the next day.
