At Keag Inn, a mysterious spirit appears, the ghost of a man who may be the former owner. His presence has been felt by both employees and guests, and some have seen a shadowy form on the second floor. The inn was built in 1854.

My grandmother lived right up the street from here (literally about a half mile up the road) and the big haunted house of the area is actually the house that was next to my grandmothers. It has a widows walk belvedere at the top. – said that a ship captain lived there with his wife and used to go on long trips out to sea. His wife would sit at the top in the widows walk waiting to see his ship home home and dock but she waited years and it never came. She one day went up to the top to look out to the sea and she died of a broken heart because she finally believed that he was never coming home. No later then the next day did his ship return and he ran up the steep stairs to his wife, and when he got to the top he saw his wife dead. Strikes by grief he ran to her and scooped her up in his arms. Not knowing what to do he decided to bring her downstairs. But carrying her body he started down the stairs and he tripped. He dropped her and fell down the stairs onto his head and broke his neck. It’s said that both of them haunt the house. And at dawn you can see the glowing white light of the wife looking out from the widows walk looking for her husband. And he can be heard wandering the house crying for the loss of his wife. -A few years ago my cousin bought the house and I can say I went in it once and never again. It’s unbearably creepy, especially the basement which has huge holes covered my boards down there. I’ve loaded a some photos of the place. The house that’s next to in the maps picture was my grandmothers house. We the story is not completely rooted in fact it’s a local lore, and the original owner was actually a ship builder and captain. His name was Captain George Thorndike, and the house has a Wikipedia page too, search George Thorndike House.
I was walking with my friend we looked up and we saw him
Just saw Colby’s comment. Wonder if you saw my uncle, a member of my family, or myself in the belvedere tower or house. I just spent four nights on the thorndike house that is owed by my wife’s uncle and aunt. We had a few strange feelings and my wife heard a man’s voice in the kitchen. I was upstairs at the time and she walked out of the room. She couldn’t understand what was being said but the voice sounded conversational and didn’t seem malicious!
You may have seen my uncle or a family member in the house or tower. I just stayed four nights in the house with my family.
