The historic theatre opened in 1928, and some patrons and staff believe the building is haunted. On various occasions, there have been reports of a misty apparition sitting in seats around the theatre, as well as on the stage during closing hours. It is believed to be a female apparition, but witnesses say the ghost has a friendly presence. The other apparitions reportedly seen in the theatre basement are those of Hawaiian soldiers, who died during a battle several centuries ago. Witnesses have reported hearing voices, feeling cold spots and seeing shadowy figures on the lower levels of the theatre.
