Hudson River State Hospital was a psychiatric hospital complex from 1873 through the early 2000s. The historic High Victorian Gothic building was abandoned in 2003 and set afire by a lightning strike in 2007. It was purchased by a private owner in 2013. Rumor has it that former patients wander here at night, making noises and screaming. Orbs are said to materialize and chase trespassers.

  1. been there twice, been in every building on the grounds. definitely a huge place with old creepy rotting stuff, but be careful, don’t go past the second floor in almost all the buildings. its a rotting mess and it cant be too healthy to be in most of the molding rooms. id say it isnt haunted, but absolutely a creepy joint where any type of nature can jump out. i:e- a deer was in a building we were in in the pitch black and it bugged out just as much as we did.

  5. Absolutely haunted. Strange noises and orbs that follow you and chase you off the premise. Some of the achitecture is gorgeous but definitely eerie and the row of employee housing gives off a silent hill vibe.

  7. Me and my buddies did an overnight trip to see the sun rise on top of the main building, the cheney buliding. The sun rise was awesome. But my three friends go to explore because we were bored and it was 2:30 am, me and my other friend stay to eat anchovies and watch the shit. About twenty minutes later they come flying back up the ladder claiming a story about a long haired women in all black they found after pushing a door to one of the half cicle shaped rooms on the north east side of the building on the 4th or 5th floor to the roof. Also the cage door to the ladder up on top of the stairs was closed when we left and it never has been closed before. I don’t know what my friends saw but there was to much detail to have been nothing. The other weird thing is that all of the half cicle rooms were never blocked off before and iv gone to this place probably about thirty times at least.
