My mother is volunteer tour guide there. She has had no experiences of her own, but told me a tale that came from another tour guide. Basically, there is a woman who comes every year to the Hotel to visit her childhood friend. As the story goes, she was on a tour at the Hotel on a very slow day in Georgetown. If you have visited Georgetown in our slow season you will know what I mean. There were few, if to no people on the street. She and her mother, along with the tour guide were the only ones in the museum. As grownups go, they began talking about one thing or another and the little girl slipped off to explore. After many minutes passed the woman realized that the little girl had gone missing and went looking for her. Well, she was found safe and sound upstairs in one of the rooms. When asked what she was doing and why she wandered off, she replied, “I was playing with my friend.” It was clear there was no one else in the hotel. To this day, even though she can no longer see her friend, she still visits to say hello.
