The historic Hollenberg Pony Express Station is a state park with a museum and visitor center, and both employees and guests have reported seeing signs of the supernatural here. Apparitions of Pony Express riders have been seen in the summer months, and the sound of running hooves and shouts are heard at times. Inside the station witnesses have felt cold spots and seen an apparition of a rider with arrows sticking out of his back, lying on the floor and bleeding. The spirit of former station owner Gerat Hollenberg also is said to reside here; he rearranges or hides various objects.
