Hamlin Hall has a haunt. Who is he? The apparition and cold spots that appear and disappear around a stairwell are said to belong to a young man who passed away inside the building.

I lived in this hall for two years during my time at Carroll. After deeply researching who exactly the “Hamlin ghost” might be, I came to one conclusion based on an old Carroll News article. Published in the early 80’s, Hamlin used to be known as East Hall, it was later renamed in 1988. It is said that a boy was attempting to slide down the banister from the second floor of the building and fell to his death from the second floor, straight down the the basement. However, another version of this story I heard from older students was that a boy and his girlfriend were having a fight and he was pushed over the railing and fell to his death in the stairwell. I guess we never may know the true cause of the Hamlin ghost.
