The building that houses the inn has been around since the days of the Revolutionary War, and many people believe that the place is haunted by soldiers who died in battle. The building was owned by loyalists during the War, and within its walls they plotted and tortured at least one colonial in order to extract information.

I stayed in what appears to now be called the General Paoli Suite about a dozen years ago. I never had any experiences with ghosts or anything of the sort, and frankly did not think they existed. I also never knew anything about the General Warren Inne, other than that it had a good reputation for food and that it was an attractive and well-preserved inn. I am fanatically careful about making sure that doors and windows are locked whenever I stay somewhere, and I checked and rechecked the locks before I went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, there was a single artificial red rose and stem that was perfectly placed lengthwise on the pillow next to me on the queen sized bed. I did not have a creepy feeling when I saw it, as it was then daylight, but I had a distinct sense that something strange had happened. The door was still locked, and the room where the bed is located is quite long and narrow. It is crowded to get into the bedroom, and it would have been awkward and risky, even if someone had access to the room, to have squeezed between the bed and the wall in order to play a prank such as placing a flower on the pillow beside me. When I checked out of the inn, I asked the clerk if anyone had ever reported any unusual activities, and he seemed sincere and rather amused when responding that he never heard of funny happenings. I did not tell him why I had asked the question. I have since learned about reported events at the bar, and when I told my story to a friend who lives in the area, she immediately responded that I had experienced the ghost of the General Warren Inne. She said that a female ghost is rumored to haunt the place.
I took a picture off my cell phone and it looks like of a spirit of a man looking down on some thing and I’m looking to start a Chester County paranormal team you guys can reach me at at matthewkratz88@yahoo.com
While the inn does have revolutionary history, I can tell you it is not haunted. All these haunted websites seem to like to pick any historic building and it must be haunted. While I believe in hauntings, I know the owners and management of this establishment as I worked there back in the 90’s. During my time there no one mentioned any history of hauntings, no staff or guest. It was not even a subject of curiosity because there were zero reason to think it haunted. If someone wants to drive up the curiosity of people coming to the inn, I’m sure the owners don’t mind the publicity for whatever reason. But the inn is not haunted. It’s warm and welcoming. The only spirits are in the bar and if you’ve had a few you too might see things.
thank you for stating what needs to have been said that just because something is old doesn’t mean it HAS to be haunted.
I live in the area and it seems to be almost a given that any tavern that can be dated back to the rev war period claims to be haunted. There are section near Whitpain and Plymouth Meeting where the streets must be as busy with spirits as the living if all the claims were to believed.
LatteLover, I wrote the account at the beginning of this thread. I do not drink or do drugs, nor do I have an overactive imagination. I would have been in my late 40s when the above incident occurred. I have had no unusual experiences of a similar nature before or since. What I described is precisely how it was. I still can picture the artificial rose on the pillow next to me. I do not consider the occurrence to be noteworthy in any way other than as related above.
i live in one of the houses across the street from the inne actually! i’ve been told since i wasn’t young from the staff that’s it’s haunted but i never spent much time in it away from my action as a coat check girl. if anything, i’d recommend checking out the top floor/attic. it’s always dark and i don’t think anyone ever really goes up there
