This restaurant has been here since it was open by Captain Wilson Hubbard in 1976. He died in 1994, but staff and patrons of the restaurant believe his spirit remains there to this day. A portrait of Wilson hangs on the wall there, and it is said his eyes will follow you while you stare at him, no matter where you stand. Wilson also had a shelf at the bar where he stored his favorite bottle of rum – the staff swear that the glasses on that shelf constantly rattle for no reason, some even fall off and break.

I work at the Friendly Fisherman, and YES strange things do happen. Years ago, I witnessed a glass ketchup bottle slide across a table, and no one was anywhere near the table. I have seen dishes fall off counters, and witnessed myself, a bar tray move. Others that I know have witnessed bar glasses flying off the rack they hang on, this has happened a few times. ( I think Wilson didn’t like who was tending bar…LOL) Has never scared me, just makes me more aware of what is going on around me, and what I am doing, I don’t want Wilson mad at me, thats for sure.
I’ve been to this restaurant twice now. The first time as soon as I walked through the door I felt a weight on my chest. I couldn’t even eat because the feeling was just too hard to shake. It wasn’t necessarily a negative feeling but it just felt strange. The next time I was there, I had the same feeling but the entire time I was there I felt like someone was watching me.
