Fischer Theater

You are here Home  > Theaters >  Fischer Theater

Fischer Theater was a 19th century opera house located in Danville, IL that has served many purposes over the years including housing, stores, and of course, a theater. While now a generally unknown location, the Theater has been known to be haunted when a volunteer of the Vermillion Heritage Foundation accidentally recorded strange sounds occurring in the projection room. It has also been investigated by Springfield Ghost Society and they noted strange sounds and shadow figures. Many locals also recognize it as an eerie, historical site.

  1. The Fischer has been renovated and is now reopened. I went there many times as a child and young adult. The interior is redone in the same beautiful classic Art Deco style as before. Prior to covid they would show a film every other week or so and it was enjoying a resurgence. It’s definitely not haunted, but worth seeing, if only for the ambience.
