DuPre House

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  DuPre House

Reports say the DuPre house was once a bed-and-breakfast, but currently may be empty and up for sale. The house was built around 1740 and is said to have two ghosts in residence: a woman and her daughter, both from the Civil War era. Their spirits have been seen and heard here, and are believed to have died in a fire. The ghosts occasionally bring with them the smell of smoke.

  1. I was a guest at the DuPre House in about 1998-99, after first learning of its “famous” ghost in 1995. An acquaintance stayed in the “haunted” room and we attempted, through her being the hypnotized subject, to contact that spirit. The innkeeper had asked me not to “get rid” of the ghost, because it was good for business. We did not contact any spirit of adult age, but the spirit of a boy about age five years was contacted. His spirit was released to the Light.
