Clay Haus Restaurant

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Clay Haus Restaurant

This restaurant is housed in a historic building, which was built over the site of a civil war house. During the levelling of the lower floor, the current owners dug out the basement using their hands, and came across many interesting artefacts, which are on display in the main dining room. During their time running the restaurant, the current owners have come across many incidences of paranormal activity, include a spectre that has been known to repetitively knock on the back door at the rear of the house. They have also three men in old-fashioned clothing coming down the stairs who vanish when they reach the bottom. On the upper floor, visitors have reportedly seen a middle-aged man standing there, who has been known to walk into a blue dining room and promptly disappear.

  1. Haven’t seen any ghosts but I have had many fine meals here! Friendly staff and atmosphere add to the dining pleasure. One of the best places in 50 mile radius to eat.

  2. Food was good but the service leaves something to be desired. Once with a party of 6 and reservations we were asked to leave so a party with no reservations could sit. There were people there longer than us . I won’t be back.
