Castle Air Museum

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Castle Air Museum

Once a part of Castle Air Force Base, Castle Air Museum contains a large collection of aircraft, one of which is said to be haunted. The old B-29’s landing lights turn on and off and the propellers turn, reportedly the signs of a ghostly crew member who died when a bomb exploded.

  1. As a kid I remember walking on the canal the goes on the back sidewhile museum. Now this wasn’t the b52 we saw moving but if you look from Santa fe towards Wallace road I remember the large silver plain moving it’s wings.

  2. When I went to Castle air museum on open cockpit day I felt an Eerie presence in the b52 plane and I swear I heard somebody talking and I was the only one in their and it seemed to come from the back of the plane.

When I was a kid my teacher send us to go to Castle Air Museum as a field. And I promise it is not haunted. People are just such liars. Stop it!!!!!

  5. Ok lets clear this up once and for all. I have been going to Castle Air Museum since I was 5 so for about 45 years. The plane people say is haunted because a crew member died is actually wrong. After doing research on this plane and an investigation I found out that no one died in connection with this plane. In fact it has never flown into any combat situations at all. There was no crew member that died because of any exploding bomb. I dont know how that story got started but after an overnight investigation we actually got no evidence what so ever. Not even any random EMF. Im not saying that there is no spirit activity or the people that have had any experiances are in any way lying. Maybe they did and it was related to something else. I just get tired of reading the story about that aircraft knowing that information is wrong.

    • Get a Voice recorder and go by there at Midnight and sit there for a bought an hours and keep talking to it actually bring a friend and hang out and then when you sit there. Replay it.

  6. Idk why nobody brings up Merced but I know 487 W. 18 St. Has a Polguiest there and me and my old friends about a decade ago. Seen a Ectoplasm in the basement maybe you can take a tape recorder there and find out who died there. I’m pretty sure somebody died there. I been looking into who lived there and idk who lived there but someone who did. I believe played with tarot cards because the next people who lived there. Found tarat cards in a room which use to be an attic. Those houses needs research.

  8. My girlfriend and I Spent a couple hours checking out all the planes. Neither of us had any idea of the ghost stories related to this place. Nothing felt odd or out of place until we got to the inside museum. Once we got inside we realized we were the only ones in there.

We wandered around looking at all the items in the display cases, openly discussing what we were looking at. But neither of us are history buffs, so we were probably getting a few assumptions wrong. A few minutes after we got there, we heard footsteps walking up to the door. My first thought was “man, this person is going to judge us if were getting things wrong”. As a result I quieted down to avoid judgment. But the person did not come inside. As me and my girlfriend made our rounds inside the museum, we could the same footsteps on the deck outside the museum. After a while, I noticed it was odd that they were out there but not coming inside. I assumed they must be on the phone or something because I remember the footsteps walking up the deck and staying somewhat close to the door.

My girlfriend remembers the footsteps being more active as we were exploring the cockpit on display. I remember hearing them while we were in the cockpit, but I cannot say if they were more active while we were there. After we left the cockpit, I mentioned that it was odd that someone was just standing on the deck, especially since it was so hot outside.

As we continued around the museum, we came back by the door. I looked outside and no one was there. Yet, as we continued around the museum we occasionally heard the footsteps on the deck outside. What we heard was clearly not just wood creaking, but rather heavy and solid footsteps.

The entire time we were in there nobody came inside, and anytime I passed the door, there was nobody outside. I thought nothing of this experience until later. After the museum, we explored the gift shop. In the gift shop we heard the cashier mentioning to another customer about the paranormal activity. Again I thought nothing of it, until my girlfriend mentioned that the footsteps we heard may have been a ghost. I am not one to jump to the assumption of paranormal activity, but I honestly have no other explanation for what we experienced.

Overall, nothing about this experience seemed malicious or frightening. Just an odd experience.
