Capone's Bar Next Door - The Wonder Bar

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Capone's Bar Next Door - The Wonder Bar

It was called The Wonder Bar in the 1920s, and the Bar Next Door has now been renamed to that original name. The establishment is said to be haunted. Built originally by Roger “The Terrible” Touhy. The Touhy brothers’ place was a hangout for gangsters, and Eddy Touhy (Roger’s brother) is rumored to have been buried behind the fireplace. Witnesses say ghosts are here, as evidenced by apparitions of a man in a 1930s gangster fedora with a redhead in a white dress. Also reported here are unexplained smells of body odor, citrus, and mustiness, as well as the sounds of rattling glasses, footsteps, and thuds after the bar is closed for the night. Some folks say a ghostly presence has followed them in the stairwells, even poking them in the back. Portraits have been known to fall off walls and chairs to move by themselves, and objects have been knocked off shelves in the night.
