This historic house was built in the early 1920’s, and is believed to be haunted by at least two apparitions. The first is the ghost of former owner Augustus Seaburg, who has been heard pacing the upper floor of house and has been standing on the landing of the stairs. The second apparition is that of a woman in white, believed to be his daughter Helen, has been seen in the parlour room and in the main bedroom of the house. Other occurrences include cold spots, strange voices and people being pushed around by an unseen presence.

I lived here for 11 months back in 2011 to 2012. While I never actually saw anything aside from a curtain being lifted on its own in the then-master bedroom as well as the entire house shaking while the floor did not, and no earthquake was reported that evening, I did hear a lot of commotion throughout the house. Doors opening and closing by themselves, someone walking up the stairs to the second floor when I was completely alone in the house one day. Helen Seaburg whispering in my girlfriend’s ear telling her to tell me not to go down into the basement anymore; why she could not tell me herself is anyone’s guess. My guess is that because I am not clairvoyant, I am not on the same “radio frequency” as the spirits are, if that makes any sense. A houseguest sleeping in our living room started yelling one night; when I went out to check on her, she pointed at the corner of the room and said “tell that old lady to leave me alone!” Yet there was no one else in the living room besides us. The list goes on, but those are a few of my stories about living in that wonderful house. Gus Seaburg is indeed the spirit that lives upstairs, and seemed to accept me as a guest in his home, because most of the paranormal activity affected other folks that were staying at the house. Despite the creepy activity, the vibe that I felt in the house was usually a good one.
