Battles, suicides and body dumping grounds surround the falls and give rise to the claims that the falls are haunted. A notorious murderer, Eveylyn Dick, dumped her dismembered husband’s body in the woods near the falls- well it should be clarified, she dumped part of his body there, they never found his head. But the most famous story regarding the haunted falls is that of a suicide. There are some variations of the story, but most align with this version: a young girl by the name of Jane Reilly hurled herself off the cliff when her romantic ambitions were thwarted by her beau’s mother. They now call the place where she plummeted to her death, Lover’s Leap, and people claim you can hear her crying there late at night.
