Ghostly footsteps, strange voices and hatches slamming shut comprise the majority of the ghostly activity on board this retired Battleship. Haunted or not, we hope the sailors rest in peace.

    1. I was a tourist, walking around the ship taking photos. When I got back to the hotel and was looking through the photos. I noticed one of the photos had a ghostly figure, clearly standing in the middle of the photo. This figure, does not look like a sailor, It was something less..explainable

    2. I live in Mobile and I’ve never heard anyone say anything scary about the USS Battleship. I have been on the battleship multiple times and have never once thought about it as a scary/haunted placed. It’s an amazing place to visit although there are lots of tight corners and stairs to walk down nothing is haunted about the battleship.

      • Most people don’t really say anything because they think it makes them look crazy. I say that because has happened to me loads of times. With things as old as this boat, you can never tell.

    3. One night my NJROTC group of girls were staying the night on the ship. Well me and another cadet went to the bottom of the ship, the lowest they will allow you, and we seen a guy in all Black. So we turned to leave because we just felt creeped out. So as we left this guy followed us. Some other cadets met us at the only door leading to were the guy was and we went back to see if we could find him, we could not find him. Every time I got around that room where the guy in black was I would get sick. I got so sick I blacked out. My friends helped me up on deck and said, “Hey, you ok?”, I just replied “When did we get up on top deck?” Then little before Midnight we wanted to go back down to that room and myself and two other cadets became sick. One had to help me back to our bunks and she claimed something was following us the whole way.

    4. I have been there many times before and it’s just and old ship, there is nothing haunted or scary about it. i have been there twice on elementary school field trips

    5. I was once there for a field trip when I was younger and I didn’t know what happened, but when I was in the area of the places where the passengers slept something pulled me forcefully! No one was in front, behind, or on the sides of me. It was just me alone far behind a line of people. That boat’s blueprints were drawn, and built , by my great-grandfather A.C Ellerbe and he passed away 12 years ago. All I can say is ” Rest in Peace Grandpa! “.

    6. I was there on a field trip about a year or 2 ago now we got to explore by ourselves my first experience was in the sleeping quarters my friends and i met up there we sat there for a bit since we where walking all day when i when to get up it was like someone was sitting on me my friends said i was zoned out all i remember was not being able to stand up no matter how hard i tried i didn’t budge but i ignored it but i knew something was wrong we went to the old dining room i heard people it wasn’t my friends it sounded like men laughing and talking along with silver where clanging like people where eating and i swore the boat was swaying like it was moving on waves i don’t know all i heard someone say its over before my friend shook my shoulder and asked me if i was ok i brushed what happened off and said yea why? she looked at me and said i was zoned out again we left and went on the top deck and everything was normal i don’t know what happened down there but what ever did happen still hasn’t left my mind.

    7. Taken back in August 2013. I forgot I had taken this photo but can’t recall which deck we were on. This was an area that was gated off and I simply stuck my hand thru and snapped this. Looks like a figure about to enter the room while looking down. Notice the face and downward expression….
