An elderly man (named Neri Sipe) leapt to his death in the nearby building is thought to be here. People associate his presence with a cold gust, pans and pots flying around, and some people hear a voice humming if tunes from the 1930’s or 1940’s are playing. Other ghosts are said to haunt the whole premise of what used to be the California Hotel.

right across the street from the browns hotel is the “republic plaza” building. i worked there as a security guard last year and saw nothing until i worked my 1st graveyard shift there. the supervisor warned about going to the 29th floor, we heard voices and footsteps in the back of the food court at 3am. When we investigated the whole back side and saw nobody, but the voices continued and our 24hr video monitoring team saw nothing. At the end of the night she tells me that a man was murdered in 1994, and in 2000 a subway employee killed a security guard. But she didnt want to tell me about what happened on floor 29 though?
