The historic hotel is most likely one of the most haunted buildings in Queensland. The first apparition seen is a lady in white who has been seen drifting through the hallways of the hotel. If the door is unlocked, the door will lock itself before she vanishes. The second apparition is a shadowy figure who has been seen in the games room and at the eastern end of the hotel verandah. He apparently died in a fight during the late 19th century at the hotel. The ghost of an old woman and former owner haunts the building, and has been seen in the dining room and has also been seen watching over the cleaners in the laundry. She fades away when approached. A ghost has been known to move luggage around the rooms of guests. The fifth apparition is a ghostly shadow that pushes and prods people on the stairs before running away. This only occurs late at night or in the early hours of morning. The sixth apparition is that of a man in a chef’s outfit, who has appeared to guests dressed either in that outfit or in a dinner suit. A ghostly dog has also been seen in the hotel by patrons.
